What is heARTwork?

A comprehensive educational method that unites creative Passion, Professionalism, and Personal Development in pursuit of a centered life.

what’s next for heartwork?

I’m thrilled to share that during the 2023-2024 academic year I will be pursuing an MPhil in Theatre and Performance at Trinity College Dublin in beautiful Ireland. The program will commence in a dissertation which will seek to understand how the performing arts can create a higher education curriculum that trains young artists for a sustainable future. It is my belief that this comes from a holistic education that promotes art for social progress.

This adventure is a direct result of beginning heARTwork. Without this passion project, I would not be where I am now. I am so excited to see how this next step helps to progress the foundational discoveries I made in 2020, and hope to share my results in a public setting as time goes on.

Our Vision & Mission:

heARTwork by Kara Shea Jonsson is an online educational center that unlocks the immense potential of performing artists. We are champions of knowledge and growth. We are dedicated to the centered artist. Through intentional education, we provide authentic pathways to a life filled with Creative Passion, Personal Development, & Professional Achievement.

What are we founded on?

At heARTwork, all content focuses on a single area or combination of the three P’s. Passion, Professionalism, and Personal Development.  We believe that a habitual lifestyle containing all three elements creates a centered and successful artist.

What do we do?

heARTwork is an online educational hub that provides digital content for performing artists.

In our education sector, heARTwork U, we provide podcasts, worksheets, and guides that take a deep dive into the many topics under Professionalism, Passion, and Personal Development.

Core Values:

  1. Gratitude: We are blessed to do this work, have this voice, and impact our community.

  2. Diversity: Music can only be made by all the keys on the piano. We welcome and embrace each unique experience.

  3. Health: You cannot pour from an empty cup. Physical, mental, and emotional health is the first priority of our staff, students, and programming.

  4. Collaboration: Productivity is achieved through collaborative and guided effort. "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."

  5. Humble Leadership: Education and community building is a humble undertaking, and is always grounded in pursuit of the greater good.

  6. Holding Space: We listen by fully donating our ears and our heart. Real listening is done by walking in another person’s shoes.
